Lyrics to Sing Out O Zion

Post by Guest » Wed Feb 09, 2011 2:10 am

Anyone remember this?
We used to do this during the Easter season.

The chorus is:
Sing out, O Zion
Rejoice God's people
Yahweh will come to free us
Yahweh will come to free us

Part of one verse is:
Reach out and see your overseers
(Forgot this line)
And peace will be you governor
And righteousness your ruler
(into chorus)

Thanks.

Lyrics to Sing Out O Zion

Post by Guest » Sat Feb 02, 2013 1:41 am

Rise up to shine, your light will come, God's Glory, comes upon you;
though darkness cover all the earth, your nation walks by your light...

Chorus

I"m looking for the guitar music for this by the way. I remember an Amaj7 in there but that's about all I remember; hopefully someone will have the rest of the lyrics and the music.

Hello, Guest:

The song, "Sing Out, O Zion!" is by John Peterson & J. T. Collins, and it was featured as hymn #47 in the (Catholic) "Hymnal for Young Americans," published in 1968 by F. E. L. Publications. Some of the lyrics are as follows:

1. Rise up to shine; your light will come;
God's glory comes upon you.
Tho' darkness cover all the earth,
The nations walk by your light.

REFRAIN: Sing out, O Zion! Rejoice God's people!
Yahweh will come to free us, Yahweh will come to free us.

2. Look up and see your overseers;
They gather for your service.
They'll build your walls and bring you wealth;
God's judgment is forgiveness.

There are two more verses. You can find them and the notated song at the following website:

Additionally, Amazon has some for sale. I would recommend getting the edition that has the chords:

I hope this has been somewhat helpful.

Peace,
Dean
