Got any rivers you think are impossible?
Got any mountains you can not tunnel thorough? God specialzes in things thought impossilbe And he can do what no other God can do. I learned this song about 50 years ago from my fourth grade school teacher. I believe it is just a chorus. We did put this with it Let go and let God have his wonderful way Let go and let God have his way. Your burdens He'll carry Your night, turn to day Let go and let God have His way. I don't know if this will help God Bless. |

| To anyone interested- I found the verses to Got Any River's? Written by Oscar C. Eliason Copyright 1945 1. Be of good courage God spake unto joshua, When o'er the river God pointed the way. Jordan uncrossable! things seemed impossible, Waters divide as they march and obey. Chorus: Got any rivers you think are uncrossable? Got any mountains you can't tunnel through? God specializes in things thought impossible: He can do what no others can do. 2. Battles to win! they would meet their obstacles, Jericho's walls, too, must fall to the ground. God never failed; He stood back of His promises, Walls had to crumble as the marched around. 3. God is the same and His word is dependable; He'll make a wat through the waters for you. Life's situations by Him are amendable, Mountains and hills He will part for you too. | |

As a child I song the song with:
Have you any rivers that you feel are uncrossable and Have you any mountains that you can not tunnel thru I tell you God specializes in things that are impossible and he will do what no other power can do. Second Verse: Is your body all full of disease and the medicine won't do you any good. Are you friendless in despair and nobody seems to care. There is another verse I just can not remember it Can anyone help me?????? Next you say: God God yes God and he will do what no other power can do Then you repeat the second verse above: Then you end it with: God God Yes God and he will do what no other power nothing but the Holy Ghost power can do |

Lyrics
Got any rivers you think are un-crossable Got any mountains you can't tunnel through God specializes in things thought impossible If you'll let him have his way He'll make away for you Let go and let God have His wonderful way Let go and let God have His way Your sorrow will vanish You night turned to day Let go and let God have His way Let the Lord have His way In your life everyday There's no peace, there's no rest Till the Lord has you best Place your life in His hand Rest secure in His plans Let the Lord, let the Lord have His way Let the Lord have His way In your life everyday There's no peace, there's no rest Till the Lord has you best Place your life in His hand Rest secure in His plans Let the Lord, let the Lord have His way Place your life in His hand Rest secure in His plans Let the Lord, let the Lord have His way |

My father is Oscar C. Eliason. Dad wrote the chorus in 1929.
He was dying of TB in a Minneapolis hospital and an elderly minister came by one evening and prayer was offered. The next day be began to improve and he continued to improve to such an extent that the Doctors admitted that something out of the ordinary had happened. As he was getting better he saw an adv. in the Minneapolis Star Tribune by a construction company that used the slogan. He changed the words to: Got any rivers you think are uncrossable Got any mountains you can't tunnel through God specializes in things thought impossible He does the things others cannot do. because it spread from mouth to mouth it became altered in many interesting ways. The story of how the verses were written in the later years is a very interesting one and anyone interested may contact me at <vce@vcyamerica.org> What a joy to know that this little chorus has touched and encouraged so many lives. We sang it this way at Ridgecrest in 1950:
"Are there any rivers that seem to be uncrossable? Are there any mountains you cannot tunnel through? God specializes in things that seem impossible. He knows a thousand ways to make a way for you. Let Go and let God have his wonderful way, Let go and let God have his way. Your troubles will vanish, your night turn to day; Let go and let Log have his way." It may have been in the chorus book, "Youth Sings." |

This is crazy! I've been searching for the lyrics to "God Specializes" and it's interesting how many different takes there are on the verses. This was the first song I ever lead in church when I was about 15 years old. The verses I learned were:
Have you any rivers that you think are uncrossable, Have you any mountains, that you can not tunnel through God Specializes in things thought impossible And he will do, what no other power, Holy Ghost power can do. God specializes (specializes) Is your body filled with disease and medicine don't give you no ease? Are you friendless and in despair and nobody seems to care? Is there trouble in your home, and your enemies won't leave you alone? I tell you God, God, yes, God, oh God and He will do (and He will do) what no other power (Holy Ghost power) can do. |

Rev. N.E. McCoy from Jamestown, North Dakota use this song on his radio program on KSJB for more then 50 years starting in the late 30's. It is a song written by someone who knew the difficutties of building a railroad. It has to do with building bridges over rivers and tunneling through mountains. He learned it while he was a young Salvation Army Officer. He never sang any verses, everyone who lived in my home town during his time knew the song.

I remember my mom singing GOD SPECIALIZES in church and the pianist would hand motion the "senior" choir to stand as she was nearing the end of the 2nd verse. It was song slow ly with feeling followed by an up beat tempo for the chorus. The lyrics that I recall along with the sheet music:
Have you any rivers that you think are uncrossable? Have you any mountains that you can not tunnel through? God specializes in things that are impossible And He will do what not other power can do. Have you any afflictions that you think are incurable? In spite of what the doctors can do God specializes in things thought impossible He can do what no other power can do. Also, Gene Viale has been singing this version for an extended period of gospel time. |

My mother was the church pianist and she used to sing this song as a soloist. It was soul stirring. She also sang "God is still on the throne" "Let God Abide" "King Jesus will Roll all Burdens away" and "He knows how much we can bear" These are a just a few of the songs she would sing before the pastor would deliver the message.
God specializes and He will do what no other pow'r can do Have you any rivers that you think are uncrossable? Have you any mountains that you can't tunnel thru? God specializes-------in things thought impossible And He will do what no other pow'r can do. Have you afflictions that seem to be incurable In spite of all the doctors can do? God specializes in healing afflictions; If you trust HIm He'll do what no other doctor can do. God specializes----God Specializes If your body filled with disease and your medicine don't give you ease If there's troubles in your home and your enemies won't leave you alone If you're friendless and in despair when nobody seem to care I know God specializes, God Specializes, God specializes, God specializes, I tell you God specializes, God specializes and He will do what no other pow'r can do |

this song was originally a song of the American builders of the Panama canal.
Got any rivers they say are uncrossable, Got any mountains they say 'can't tunnel through'? We specialize in the wholly impossible, Doing the things they say you can't do. published in 1914, and was "Christianized" by Eliason 1931. Like many American hymns, its basically a drinking song that so many people knew, it was easy to transition it to the church. |
