I love this hymn. Very popular in 70's and 80's in Catholic guitar Masses. Still shows up in Memorial services and masses. I would be so grateful if someone could send me the words.
Thank you. |

Hi Josie,
I think this is it: 1. You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst. You shall wander far in safety though you do not know the way. You shall speak your words in foreign lands and all will understand. You shall see the face of God and live. Refrain: Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will give you rest. 2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown. If you walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed. If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with you through it all. 3. Blessed are your poor, for the kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are you that weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh. And if wicked men insult and hate you all because of Me, blessed, blessed are you! Hope this is it. Thanks, Steve |

| When lost or afraid, these words shall carry you to eternal peace. The Father is letting you know that no matter what troubles you face, you shall NEVER be alone. This hymn is the light that shall shine through the shadow of lies. | |

I don't think there has ever been a time that I have not cried during this hymn at mass. No matter where I am in life, this hymn reminds me the He is guiding me to a better place.

| When I was a child attending church with my parents, my mother, who died two years ago, used to sing this along with the choir. She had the most beautiful singing voice and I loved listening to her. Now when I hear it as an adult as mass it most definitely brings a tear to my eye. I only wish my church would sing it more often. | |

| I love the message of the song, that JESUS is always on our side whatever life's situation we have. I wish our non catholic brothers will hear this and they may realized we are much Christ and bible centered like them. RTF of Las Pinas | |
