GOD TOOK AWAY MY YESTERDAYS

                        I

I ONCE WAS LOST AND LONELY MY HEART WAS FULL OF SIN.
BUT GOD LOOKED DOWN AND SAW ME AND HE DREW ME CLOSE TO HIM.
HE TOLD ME THAT HE LOVED ME AND HE BID ME TO COME IN.
THEN SAID IF YOU ARE SORRY I'LL WASH AWAY YOUR SINS.

                         II

GOD TOOK AWAY ME YESTERDAYS FAR AS EAST IS FROM THE WEST.
I DON'T HAVE YESTERDAYS BUT I DO HAVE PEACE AND REST.
THERE MAY BE NO TOMORROW FOR ME DOWN HERE BELOW.
BUT JESUS WAITS FOR ME UP THERE AND THAT'S ONE THING THAT I KNOW.

                          III

GOD TOOK AWAY ME YESTERDAYS FROM THEM I'LL NEVER RUN.
I CAN'T LIVE FOR TOMORROW FOR TOMORROW MAY NEVER COME.
BUT WHILE I'M HERE I'LL SERVE HIM FOR ME HE GAVE HIS SON.
AND SOON HE'S GOING TO CALL ME UP TO THAT HOME UP ABOVE.

                      CHORUS

GOD TOOK AWAY MY YESTERDAYS AND LEFT ME FREE FROM SIN.
AND IN THAT HOME OF GLORY HE'LL NEVER MENTION THEM.
IN A LAND FAR AWAY THEY'LL ALWAYS STAY
IN A DEEP SEA CALLED FORGET.
GOD TOOK AWAY MY YESTERDAYS THE MOMENT THAT WE MET

It was written by Merritt Ford.  My late grandfather.  I never got to meet him due to him passing away before I was born.  Merritt Ford was from Indiana.  Wish I could have met him.

I had sang this song since I was in my teens and I'm now 60. In due time the words I had typed down for it got lost so I am really glad to find this site and the words to "God Took Away My Yesterdays" and to find out who wrote it and when. He left a good heritage to his family with the writing of this song.

My dad, Joe, knew Merritt and thought very highly of him.  Evidently he hired him to work at a gas station he was managing in the 50's or 60's.  He would like to contact his son Roger or Ronny, he is not sure of the name.  If the grandchild guest could reply I would appreciate it.

I am Goldie Ford the wife of Roger Ford who is Merritt Ford's oldest son.  Merritt Ford was my Father-in-Law and did write this song.  Jimmy Swaggart published and sang this song.  You can contact Roger Ford by email at goldie.ford@yahoo.com

I am a choir director and song leader.  One of my people have asked if I could b try to find the sheet music for this song.  I have sent an email to Ms. Goldie Ford, but is there anyone else who might know where I can go to find it?
