The title of the song is Higher Ground.
Chorus: Lord lift me up and let me stand by faith on heaven's tableland A Higher plain than I have found Lord plant my feet on higher ground. |

I can get this in full from my hymnal at church. Here's what i know from memory.
I'm pressing on the upward way New heights I'm gaining every day Still praying as I'm onward bound Lord, lead me on to higher ground. |

Here are the full lyrics. All from my head, as this is one of my favorites
1. I'm pressing on the upward way, New heights I'm gaining every day; Still praying as I onward bound, "Lord, plant my feet on higher ground." Chorus Lord, lift me up, and let me stand, By faith, on heaven's table-land, A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground. 2. My heart has no desire to stay Where doubts arise and fears dismay; Tho' some may dwell where these abound, My prayer, my aim, is higher ground 3. I want to live above the world Tho' Satan's darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground. 4. I want to scale the upmost height, And catch a glimpse of glory-bright; But still I'll pray till Heav'n I've found, "Lord, plant my feet on higher ground." God bless!

This is one of the songs my late mother lovd most.
I on the same faith with my mother, who loved God so much, also get blessed whenever and wherever I hear or sing this song. God bless the composer of this song. Mark Chinyere Oguzie chinyeremark@ymail.com |

| I dearly love this old hymn. I grew up in a rural Southern Baptist Church out in the country north of Biloxi, MS; Woolmarket Baptist Church. My father was the pastor there for eleven years. Woolmarket Baptist Church had its roots in the old singing schools that were so prominant in the South. They sang these old hymns in four part harmony and loudly with gusto and praise to the Lord. This was among the most frequently hymns they sang. It's message and harmony blesses me still to this day! Thank you for making it available here! God bless! | |
