One of the verses is:
If just a cup of water I place within your hands,
then just a cup of water is all that I demand.
Be faithful weary pilgrim the morning (?) I can see, ...take up thy cross and follow me.
Another verse:
His feet were also weary along that calvary road,
His cross became so heavy He fell beneath the load
...follow after me.
I think it is usually a solo.

Hi Guest,

Here's what I found. The hymn is "Follow Me", lyrics by Ira F. Stamphill:

I traveled on a lonely road and no one seemed to care.
The burden on my weary back had bowed me to despair;
I oft complained to Jesus how folks were treating me,
And then I heard Him say so tenderly,
"My feet were also weary, upon the Calvary road;
The cross became so heavy, I fell beneath the load,
Be faithful weary pilgrim the morning I can see,
Just lift your cross and follow close to me."

"I work so hard for Jesus" I often boast and say
"I've sacrificed a lot of things to walk the narrow way,
I gave up fame and fortune, I'm worth a lot to Thee"
And then I hear Him gently say to me,
"I left the throne of glory and counted it but loss,
My hands were nailed in anger upon a cruel cross,
But now we'll make the journey with your hand safe in mine,
So lift your cross and follow close to me.

Oh Jesus if I die upon a foreign field someday,
'Twould be no more than love demands, no less could I repay,
"No greater love hath mortal man than for a friend to die"
These are the words He gently spoke to me,
"If just a cup of water I place within your hand
Then just a cup of water is all that I demand.
But if by death to living they can Thy glory see,
I'll take my cross and follow close to Thee.

Hope this is the one! Here's a link to some sheet music:

I know of a song that has that line in it, called,
If We Never Meet Again (this side of Heaven) It doesnt start off with that line, though, so its probably not it. If you think it might be, I'd be glad to get you the words on here. Will keep posted and check occasionally....good luck

How about...

God be with you till we meet again
By His counsels guide, uphold you
With His sheep securely fold you
God be with you till we meet again

Till we meet, till we meet
Till we meet at Jesus' feet
Till we meet, till we meet
God be with you till we meet again

Thanks Guest #2. Here are the complete lyrics to "God Be with You Till We Meet Again".

1.
God be with you till we meet again;
By His counsels guide, uphold you,
With His sheep securely fold you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus
Till we meet, till we meet,
Till we meet at Jesus’ feet;
Till we meet, till we meet,
God be with you till we meet again.

2.
God be with you till we meet again;
Neath His wings protecting hide you;
Daily manna still provide you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

3.
God be with you till we meet again;
With the oil of joy anoint you;
Sacred ministries appoint you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

4.
God be with you till we meet again;
When life’s perils thick confound you;
Put His arms unfailing round you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

5.
God be with you till we meet again;
Of His promises remind you;
For life’s upper garner bind you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

6.
God be with you till we meet again;
Sicknesses and sorrows taking,
Never leaving or forsaking;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

7.
God be with you till we meet again;
Keep love’s banner floating o’er you,
Strike death’s threatening wave before you;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

8.
God be with you till we meet again;
Ended when for you earth’s story,
Israel’s chariot sweep to glory;
God be with you till we meet again.

Chorus

Most of the time only four verses are sung.

Here's the hymn that Guest #1 mentioned:

1.
Soon we'll come to the end of life's journey
And perhaps we'll never meet anymore
Till we gather in heaven's bright city
Far away on that beautiful shore

Chorus
If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There's another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the river of life
Where the charming roses bloom, forever
And where separation come no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore

2.
Oh so often we are parted with sorrow
And action often quietens our pain
But we never shall sorrow in heaven
God be with you till we meet again

God bless,
Steve

I could only find the chorus, but hope this is it:

The blood prevails, the blood of the risen lamb
Power to save
just like in olden days the blood prevails

Thank you for the lyrics to FOLLOW ME. The song is such a beautiful song. I plan to sing it for church some day soon and couldn't find he lyrics, although I know the song on the piano and have had it "stuck" in my head ever since I heard it who knows when and where! It's one of those songs that stays with people forever once they've heard it several times.  Karla

Steve,
Thanks for listing the lyrics of "Follow Me".  We used to sing it at camp when I was many years younger.  The lyrics are beautiful.

God Bless you for doing this!

The last two lines of "Follow Me" don't make sense...they should be in Jesus' voice, but they aren't...the point of martyrdom isn't the glory of the person, but the glory of God.  Can you help me on this?  I was searching the lyrics for a curriculum I'm editing--I appreciate this resource and your help!

Hi Guest,

Actually, I think if you look at the lines closely, you'll see it's appropriate:

But if by death to living they can Thy glory see,
I'll take my cross and follow close to Thee.

I think the important thing is to look at the word "Thy".

The person speaking starts out the hymn by complaining that being a Christian is burdensome, thankless, and that he had to give up so much to become one. The Lord's reply to him is to remind him that whatever he thinks he's suffering, it's literally nothing in comparison to what He suffered. And that whatever the temporary suffering we're going through, that He is with us every step of the way and there is a bright morning ahead to look forward to.

So the last stanza is a realization of how self-centered and selfish he's been. He says that even if he should die on a foreign land for the Lord, it still would not pay back what He has given up for us. He realizes that God is just, and does not ask anything of us more than what He equips us to do.

So at the end, he realizes that if people can see God's glory through his life, then whatever he has to suffer is worth it.

Even 60 years after the hymn was written, it's a good reminder for those of us who complain and may be tempted to ask "what's in it for me" as opposed to "what's in it for Him".

I hope this makes sense. God bless!

Here's another verse to the song:  "IF WE NEVER MEET AGAIN"  by Albert Brumley
(1935)

3. Oh they say we shall meet by the river
Where no storm clouds ever darken the sky
And they say we'll be happy in Heaven
In the wonderful sweet by and by.

Follow me, follow me, leave your home and family,

This summer I was asked to write an article about caring for God's creation.  I decided to write about water-our next oil.  The article was  "Rain Gardens: A Beautiful Solution to Water Pollution".  Every time I started to work on this article I kept thinking of the words to this song but I just could not think of the title.
Now I have it thanks to you.  The article will be on my web site by Christmas at www.Homes2Love.com.

Words to the old Jamaican hymn,

"The Blood Prevails"

The Blood prevails the blood of the risen lamb
there is power, power to save
just as in olden days

If you want the power check him every hour
if you want the spirit check him every minute
and if you want the weapon check him every second
Blood ah di remedy

Jesus blood ah di remedy (4x)
it ah di good good remedy.

I have been hoping to find the lyrics to "Follow Me" and now thanks to you I have it.  I first heard a trio sing this song at the "Canp Meeting" in Greer, South Carolina in 1963.  Now I have the words and the memories still linger.

God Bless You Real Good!

That's All That Matters To Me lyrics

People are chasing a beautiful rainbow
Striving for a future
Building Dreams on the sand
But I have a future, a heavenly future
And that's all that matters to me

chorus:
That's all that matters to me
Saved by His grace
I am redeemed
I've been washed in the blood of the lamb
And that's all that matters to me

People are building their earthly treasure
Houses and new cars they're fine luxuries
But I have a treasure
A heavenly treasure
And that's all that matters to me

Here is another good one:

"Follow Me!"

       I hear my risen Saviour say,
       Follow Me, follow Me, follow Me!
       His Voice is calling all the day,
       Follow Me, follow Me, follow Me!

       For thee I trod the bitter way,
       For thee I gave My life away,
       And drank the gall thy debt to pay,
       Follow Me, follow Me, follow Me!

       (--He did all that for you, how can you do less than follow Him?)

       Tho' thou hast sinned, I'll pardon thee.
       Follow Me, follow Me, follow Me!
       From ev'ry sin I'll pardon thee,
       Follow Me, follow Me, follow Me!

       In all thy changing life I'll be
       Thy God, thy Guide on land or sea.
       Thy blood thro' all Eternity
       Follow Me, follow Me, follow Me!
