I'm looking for the words to a medley I used to sing at Sunday school, can only remember some of the songs involved, but they are (not in correct order) :

Build your house upon the rock
I will make you fishers of men
This little light of mine
Posted:  27 Feb 2007 16:23
I will make you fishers of men,
fishers of men,
fishers of men,
I will make you fishers of men
If you'll follow me,
If you'll follow me,
if you'll follow me
I will make you fishers of men
if you'll follow me.

Hear Christ calling, come unto me
come unto me, come unto me
Hear Christ calling come unto me
I will give you rest.
I will give you rest, I will give you rest
Hear Christ calling, come unto me
I will give you rest.

This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine
This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine
This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine
let it shine, let it shine let it shine.

Hide it under a bushel, NO!
I'm going to let it shine . . .

Won't let Satan blow it out
I'm going to let it shine

let it shine till Jesus comes,
I'm going to let it shine

Here are two of the three, I hope it helps.
Was the other one about the foolish man and the wise man building their house on the sand and the rocks and the rain coming down?

Yes, it was, but there were only short bits of each song, and there were a lot more songs in the medley. It used to be called the Fruit Salad song, because it was a mixture. Maybe it was just an Australian thing.

Hi Guys

I am looking for words to the same "fruit salad" medley, i think it started with the words, 'The old old story it is ever new" and had random lines form about 20 hymns. Anyone have the words

I remember something similar to this, and I think we called it the Hash Chorus.  From what I remember it goes like this:

When the roll is called up yonder
I'll be walkin on the King's highway
Tell me the old, old story (yeah)
I love it better every day

Hal-le-lu-----jah

I will make you fishers of me
if you only follow me
Hallelujah, what a Savior
I'm from sin set
You're from sin set
We're all from sin set free.

Hi all
I remember this song from years ago - but this is the version we used to sing - think there may be more verses that I have forgotten. We called it "The Fruit Salad Song".

The old old story it is ever new
The old old story Praise the Lord tis true
That Jesus died for me as well as you
I love the old old story

When the roll is called up yonder
I’ll be walking in the King’s highway
Tell me the old old story
I love Him better every day

Hallelujah

I will make you fishers of men
If you’ll only follow me
Now none but Christ can satisfy
And there’s no other Name for me

B-e—cau-ause

Every day with Jesus
Is sweeter than the day before
Every passing moment
I love Him more and more
Hallelujah
Jesus saves and keeps me
And He’s the One I’m waiting for
Every day with Jesus
Is sweeter than the day before.

Mine mine mine mine
Jesus is mine
Mine when I’m weary
Mine when I’m dreary
Mine mine mine mine
Jesus is mine
Mine all the time
Oh yes He’s mine

Can you wonder at the people being envious
When they see that we’re as happy as can b-e-e-e
For the glory of the Lord is all around us
We’re as happy as the birds
Upon the tree … Tweet Tweet
Hallelujah Hallelujah
Hallelujah for my sins are all forg-i-i-ven
Very precious is Jesus
And my heart’s a little Hallelujah he-ea-ven.

Anybody know any more verses?

My mother said it was sung to the tune of a song called "Old Black Joe."
Posted:  15 Aug 2011 05:48
Ok, here's some extra verses I remember

Bye and Bye we'll see the King
Bye and Bye we'll see the King
Bye and Bye we'll see the King
And crown Him Lord of all

And if we do not crown Him Lord of all
And if we do not crown Him Lord of all
And if we do not crown Him Lord of all
We do not crown Him Lord at all.

This was an old Medley we sang in Sunday School. It was called the Fruit Salad Chorus ...  This is how I remember it.

He came to seek me, He came to save me, He went to Calvary all the way.
He died to save me, He lives to keep me, and He’s coming back someday.
When the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be walking on the King’s highway,
Tell me the old, old story, I love it better every day … Hall-le-lu-jah,
And I will make you fishers of men if you’ll only follow Me,
For none but Christ can satisfy and there’s no other name for me, because
Ev-‘ry day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.
Ev – ‘ry passing moment, I love Him more and more … Hall-le-lu-jah.
Jesus saves and keeps me and He’s the one I’m waiting for,
Cause ev – ‘ry day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.
By and by we’ll see the King, by and by we’ll see the King,
By and by we’ll see the King and crown Him Lord of all.
And crown Him Lord of all and crown Him Lord of all,
And crown Him Lord of all … and crown Him Lord of all.
And if you do not crown Him Lord of all
And if you do not crown Him Lord of all
And if you do not crown Him Lord of all
You do not crown Him Lord at all.

Her's how my husband and I remember it

Fruit Salad

He came to seek me he came to save me
He went to Calvary all the way
He died to save me he lives to keep me
He’s goin’ to take me home some day
When the role is called up yonder
I’ll be walking on the King’s highway
Tell me the old old story
I love it better every day (Alleluia!)
I will make you fishers of men
If you only follow me
For none but Christ can satisfy
And there’s no other name for me
Because every day with Jesus
Is sweeter than the day before
Every passing moment
I love him more and more (Alleluia!)
Jesus saves and keeps
And he’s the one I’m waiting for
Every day with Jesus
Is sweeter than the day before
Everybody ought to love him
Everybody everywhere
Everybody ought to love him
He will banish every care
For He’s the author of salvation
Condemnation he did bear
Jesus died for every nation
Everybody everywhere
By and by we’ll see the king
By and by we’ll see the king
By and by we’ll see the king
And crown him Lord of all
And if you do not crown him Lord of all
And if you do not crown him Lord of all
And if you do not crown him Lord of all
You do not crown him Lord at all

I've written out the music (from memory) to the above version (4th April) in the composer program Sibelius, so it's quite legible with the words below the tune  with a chord bass line.  It's 4 pages long.  I could send it to you as a pdf file via email if you're still interested.  Pauline

Hi all
Most of the choruses are in the old Elim chorus books, as well as a basic version of the Fruit Salad song.

I remember this from church camp:

When the roll is called up yonder
I'll be walkin’ on the King's highway
Tell me the old, old story
I love it better every day

Hal-le-lu-----jah

I will make you fishers of me
if you only follow me
Hallelujah, what a Savior
I'm from sin set
You're from sin set
We're all from sin set free.

Oh my lovin’ brother
When the world’s on fire
You’ll need my Jesus
To be your savior
He’ll hide you ever
In the rock of ages
In the rock of ages
Just clef for me

Rock a my soul in the bosom of Abraham
Rock a my soul in the bosom of Abraham
Rock a my soul in the bosom of Abraham
Oh rock a my soul

So high you can’t get over it
So low you can’t get under it
So wide you can’t get around it
You must go in at the door

Oh oh oh rock a my soul.

I found the rest of the words and made come corrections:

When the roll is called up yonder,
I'll be walking down the King's Highway,
Tell me the old, old story,
I love it better every day!
Hallelujah!
I will make you fisher's of men,
If you'll only follow Me.
Hallelujah, what a Savior!
I'm from sin set...
You're from sin set...
We're all from sin set free.
Oh my loving brothers,
When the world's on fire,
You'll need my Jesus,
To be your Savior.
He'll hide you ever,
In the Rock of Ages,
In the Rock of Ages,
Just cleft for me.

Rock a my soul in the bosom of Abraham,
Rock a my soul in the bosom of Abraham,
Rock a my soul in the bosom of Abraham,
Oh, Oh, Oh,
Rock a my soul!
So high, you can't get over it.
So low, you can't get under it.
So wide, you can't get around it,
You gotta go in at the door!
Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh, Rock a my soul!

Hi Pauline,

Is it possible that you are emailing pdf  of the music to the Fruit Salad song?

If so, I would appreciate receiving a copy at jritchey5072@yahoo.com.  Thanks so much.

I'm not so sure this is just an Australian thing...my grandfather introduced us to this song when I was about 10 (52 years ago) American. Our version was composed of the titles of songs, and each title used its own tune. I played the music, and we have continued to sing it with the children all through the years, so I'm pretty sure I recall correctly how the tune to our version went, but I would like to know the versions that others recall.

This is the only part of the song we ever sang.

When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder
I'll Be Walking Up the King's Highway
Tell Me the Story of Jesus
I Love Him Better Every Day - ay - ay -ay
I Will Make You Fishers of Men
If You'll Only Follow Me
Hallelujah, What a Saviour
Jesus Belongs to Me.
