Here are the Lyrics for "Gone"

Words and music by Elridge Fox

1. Mary came unto the tomb of Jesus,
the stone was moved, the Lord had gone away,
the angels said "Fear not, I know whom seek ye",
"But He is risen," This she heard him say.

chorus:

Gone, the stone is rolled back, Gone, the tomb is empty,
Gone, to sit at the Father's side;
Gone, over death triumphant, Gone, sin is defeated,
Gone, He lives forevermore.

2.  My friend, If you don't know my risen Savior,
I beg of you, don't wait to late to pray,
Don't wait until  his bride has been completed
don't wait until you hear him say, "It's too late"

repeat chorus:

tag:  Gone, He lives forevermore!!

Verse One

I walked down to the tomb this morning, to prepare the body of my Lord.
But, before I could get there, I could feel something in the air.
Could this be the day the prophets foretold?

Mary, why are you weeping and whom seekest thou?
remember what he said that he would raise from the dead?
Can't you see from the stone rolled that Jesus is gone?

Chorus:
He's gone the grave could'nt hold him, Salvation was completed and now he's gone. He's gone and thru the precious blood of Jesus, he's coming back to meet and take us away forever where he's gone.

Tag: Grave where is yourv victory? Death where is your sting?
The Tomb of my saviour is empty. The grave could'nt hold our King.

I found the third verse to that song...

VERSE THREE

Now we feel so alone, Since Jesus rose and he is gone.
But, he's promised to return and for that day my heart yearns.
To sing that victory song and finally be where he's gone.

I have found info on the song, and I think it is sung by Eldgridge Fox. Here is one web link to the song, with only the verses, not the chorus.

I heard Jessie Dixon on Gaither sing this way:

The Lyrics for "He's Gone"

1. Mary came unto the tomb of Jesus,
the stone was moved, the Lord had gone away,
the angels said "Fear not, the Lord is risen",
"don't you see, no living here, among the grave"

chorus:

He's Gone, the stone is rolled back,
Gone, the tomb is empty,
Gone, to sit at the Father's side;
He's Gone, over death triumphant,
Gone, sin is defeated,
Gone, He lives forevermore.

2.  Oh come with me and see a risen Savior,
Who still, can turn the dark of death today,
He can calm the storms of life, and part the oceans
and he still, can roll your heavy stone, away

repeat chorus:

tag:    He lives
          Gone
          He lives forevermore
          Evermore

I wanted to ask if anyone knows the words to a verse with the words: "He's not gone, He's just away"... I can't remember the rest of the words. All I can say is it was such a lovely verse. I heard it back in the late 70's and it made me feel so very consoled.... Please if anyone knows the verse please send it to me.
Thank You

The first time I remember hearing this song was back in the mid to late-70s. It was sung by Teddy Huffam and the Gems. Their version remained popular for several years ad is similar to that of Jesse Dixon and is the one with the 2nd verse being "My friend, if you don't know this risen Savior." The other version posted here with a different 2nd verse is sung by Ernie Haase and Signature Sound.

I have a song Ive been looking for for like 10 years that they used to sing at church when i was young maybe late 80s by a group called the messengers and it was a happy little easter song. Started out with them talking

Satans flag flew at half mass,
all cration stood quiet,
afraid to ask,
what comes next now that Satans in command...(long Pause)
(tthey start like an upbeat tempo quite loudly If I remember right)

But then the stone rolled away, hit the tree that shook the bird
that shouted out to the clouds
good news had he heard
Now old satan awoke in a huff and said whats goin on
and all creation shouted back at him Hes gone yes Hes gone.....

Chorus:
Hes gone, Hes gone there aint nothin you can do
Hes gone hes gone, gone and defeated you
you thought calvary was your victory but you were wrong all along
3 days in the grave and Hes gone yes Hes gone......

Sound familiar to anyone, trying to find it, sort of Gather Vocal band group that I loved as a kid from Oklahoma. Had a tape, wore it out I guess.
